The Minister of State for Transportation, Sen. Gbemisola Saraki, wants all stakeholders in the transportation ministry to synergize and come up with solutions on how to quickly fix roads across the country.
Receiving a delegation of Nigerian Transportation Commissioners’ Forum (NTCF), Senator Saraki  charged them to convene  a meeting of the Governor’s Forum, the Federal Ministry of Works and Housing, Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), Transport Unions and the Federal Ministry of Transportation to rub minds together on easy ways of fixing roads nationwide.
Alternatively, she suggested to the NTCF to institute a biannual meeting during which stakeholders would  discuss challenges in the transportation sector.
Senator Saraki told the NTCF delegation that her ministry is doing a lot to tackle myriads of challenges in the ministry, including problems possed by the unregulated movement of articulated vehicles, which she said would be included in the National Transport Policy.
She also disclosed a plan to capture tricycle operators in the intervention fund as they form a major nucleus in the provision of transportation in the city centers.
The leader of the delegation Mr. Ramatu Yar’ Adua, who is  a Commissioner in Niger State said the visit was an extension of an early one paid on the Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, for intervention over the deplorable state of  roads across the country.
Other members of the delegation were the Transport Commissioners from Borno, Dr. Abubakar Tyjani, and his counterpart in Adamawa state Jika Mustapha.
