Minister Of Transportion Denies Knowledge Of Dakuku’s Sack

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has denied knowledge of sack of Dr. Peter side Dakuku as Director General, Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and subsequent appointment of an Executive Director,  Dr. Bashir Jamoh as new Director General.

He made this remark recently in an interview with African Independent Television (AIT) at Abuja saying, the tenure of the Director General will expire next Tuesday and that until then Dakuku remains Director General.

According to him, if the Director has been sacked, ” I will be the first person to tell him” adding that¬† “The President Muhammadu Buhari has the final authority to either sack or retain the Director General based on my recommendation”.

Amaechi stated further that the rumour making the rounds is based on speculations.

He also denied knowledge of the fact that the Director General of NIMASA refused to appear before members of Joint Committee set up to probe activities of foreign vessel operatorsbin Nigeria on Tuesday.

The minister stated further that ” As a minister I attend summons of the National Assemblyband I don’t think that Dakuku as a former member of the House of Representatives will deliberately refuse to answer summon of members of the National Assembly”.
