SON DG Assures The Agency Will Tackle Issues on Fake, Substandard Products

The Director General, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, SON, Anthony Aboloma has said that his Agency is ready and committed in tackling issues relating to fake and substandard products coming into Nigerian markets with the approval  of African Continental Free Trade Agreement, ACFTA, by government.
The SON DG who spoke through his representative, Engineer Enebi Olutoye at a media round table, Organised by Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria, MAJAN in Lagos was full of assurance.
According to the DG, SON has its mark of certification on goods manufactured in Nigeria, as well as those imported into the country. He promised that with such, the agency is ready, capable and can trace every product suspected to be substandard to the manufacturer, or origin.
Aboloma equally promised maritime stakeholders that SON is currently working and very assiduously too, to curtail influx of fake products into the country, in order  to prevent people from consuming such dangerous goods.
Also contributing, the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr Boniface Aniebonam said, SON must return to the seaports immediately, to check fake and life endangering products coming into the country through these areas.
Dr Aniebonam as well commended MAJAN for the media round table, calling on maritime Journalists to do more on the area of investigative reporting on issues concerning the maritime sector of the economy.
