lt is indeed eyes opening for many students, Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos particularly those trying to start up as entrepreneurs as they were trilled and educated on issues that relates anti-smuggling at an anti-smuggling sensitization workshop on Entrepreneurship and anti-smuggling.
The event which packed by Financal Busness on Thursday, 28 March, 2019 at Cetntre for Entrepreneurial Development, Yaba College of Technology offered DC Dera Nnadl who represented the Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (ACG) KC Ekekezie used the opportunity to tell the students all about smuggling and the laws against smuggling as contained in the Customs and Excise Management Act 20004.
The event was chaired by Ukpong Umoh, also graced by other very personallties like the CSC Samuel Olusanya, the Officer in Charge of Operations at the Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service who was the Guest Lecturer at the event.
Others include DC Adelunde R.A, the DC Enforcement of Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs, Seme Command.
They advised students who would want to venture into Private ventures to shun smuggling and everything that relates to lt. The various presentations by experienced and erudite personalities were meant to ensure that the youths see the need to embrace entrepreneurship, as key to economic growth while doing away with anything that relates to smuggling.
The programme Offcer, Mrs Udeme Clement,who had earlier welcomed all her guests lncludlng the students, also presented a scholarship grant of N70,000 to an lndegent student of Yaba Tech, a student who she said has no father to train her and another young male student who was given a grant of N20,000 to support his barbing business while schooling.
On his own DC Adelunde R.A of Seme Enforcement Unit Command counselled the students to embrace the laws while trying to become entrepreneurs.
”We are ready to assist you, you young and up coming entrepreneurs who actually want to achieve something in future. When you engage in right attitude, As a young entrepreneurs what we are advising is that there are many opportunities . So look at your environment and identify the opportunities that are available and see what you can offer.”
