FG Reopens Closed Land Borders

The Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the  re-opening of the closed land borders  across Nigeria.

The reopening of the land borders by the Federal Ministry of Interior, Lt. Gen. Abdulrahaman Bello Dambazau (rtd.) GR PhD on behalf of the federal government of Nigeria.

In a statement signed by Comptroller General of the Nigeria  Immigration Service (NIS) Muhammad Babandede  said that the reopening of the land borders was because of the shifting of presidential and national assembly elections that were billed to take place today Saturday, February 16, 2019.  

The statement reads that: ”The Hon. Minister of Interior, Lt. Gen. Adulrahman Bello Dambazua has ordered the re-opening of all the Land Borders earlier closed due to the postponement of the  elections earlier scheduled for February 16th ,2019″

The statement further added that the officers and men of the NIS  already resumed their normal border and patrol functions of ensuring that individuals travelling across the air, seas and land borders with genuine documents are  attended to.
