Ambode, Obaseki, Top Oil and Gas stakeholders to Grace Maran’s Seminar

href=”https://maritimesecuritynews.com.ng/wp-content/uploads/2018/08/Akinwunmi-Ambode.jpg”>LAGOS STATE GOVERNOR, AKINWOMI AMBODE AND HIS COUNTER PART FROM EDO STATE, GODWIN OBASEKI AS WELL AS OTHER TOP STAKEHOLDERS DRAWN FROM THE OIL AND GAS SHIPPING SECTORS OF THE ECONOMY HAVE INDICATED INTERESTS TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FORTHCOMING TWO-DAY OIL AND GAS SEMINAR BILLED TO TAKE PLACE ON AUGUST 28th 2018 IN LAGOS.

THE EVENT WHICH IS PUT TOGETHER BY THE MARITIME REPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIA (MARAN) IS BILLED TO TAKE PLACE AT ROCKVIEW HOTEL, APAPA GRA, LAGOS BY 10 AM EACH DAY.

IN A STATEMENT ISSUED AT THE WEEKEND AND SIGNED BY THE SECRETARY  GENERAL OF  THE ASSOCIATION (MARAN), MR. DAPO OLAWOMI, WHO SAID THAT THE SEMINAR IS TARGETED AT ENCOURAGING NIGERIANS TO BE FULLY INTEGRATED INTO THE OIL AND GAS LOGISTICS OPERATIONS PARTICULARLY IN THE UPSTREAM SECTOR.

HE FURTHER NOTED THAT A SPECIAL FOCUS IS PLACED ON THE EGINA FLOATING PRODUCTION STORAGE AND OFFLOADING (FPSO) PLATFORM RECENTLY DELIVERED BY TOTAL NIGERIA LIMITED.

THE TWO-DAY EVENT IS COMING WITH THE THEME: ”LOCAL CONTENT DEVELOPMENT ON SHIPPING, OIL GAS LOGISTICS OPERATIONS ON NIGERIAl

ALREADY, THE LEADERSHIP OF MARAN LED BY MR. ANYA NJOKU HAS ASSURED PARTICIPANTS, STAKEHOLDERS AND THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT THE SPEAKERS AT THE ARE READY WHILE THE TWO GOVERNORS HAVE GIVEN THEIR WORDS FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE PROGRAMME AS LAGOS STATE RECENTLY JOINED THE LEAGUE OF OIL PRODUCING STATES IN NIGERIA.

HOWEVER, MR. OLAWOMI STATED THAT SPECIAL ATTENTION WOULD EQUALLY BE GIVEN ON EDO STATE, WHICH HAS JUST SIGNED A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH A CONSULT I UM OF CHINESE AND AFRICAN COMPANIES FOR THE CONSTRUCTION 5,500 BARRELS PER DAY MODULAR REFINERY, STATE’s REFINERY.

MARITIME, SHIPPING, OIL AND GAS DIGNITARIES TO SPEAK AT THE EVENT INCLUDE: THE EXECUTIVE SECRETARY OF NIGERIAN CONTENT DEVELOPMENT AND MONITORING BOARD, MR. SIMBI WABOTE, GROUP MANAGING DIRECTOR OF NNPC, MAIKANTI BARO, THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OIL AND GAS FREE ZONE AUTHORITY, UMUNNA OKON UMUNNA, AS WELL AS THE DIRECTOR GENERAL OF NIMASA, DAKUKU PETERSIDE,.

OTHERS ARE THE MANAGING DIRECTOR LAGOS DEEPSEA OFFSHORE LOGISTICS BASE (LADOL), MRS. EMMY JADESINMI, GROUP GENERAL MANAGER OF NATIONAL PETROLEUM INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SERVICE (NAPIMS), MR. ROLAND EWUBARE, THE MANAGING DIRECTOR OF THE NIGERIAN PORTS AUTHORITY (NPA), MRS. HADIZA BALA USMAN, NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF MASTER MARINERS, NIGERIAN SHIPOWNERS ASSOCIATION (NISA) AMONG OTHERS.

MARAN SECRETARY GENERAL, MR.OLAWOMI ADDED THAT: ”AS MARITIME JOURNALISTS, WE BELIEVE THAT THE BENEFIT OF NIGERIA’s PARTICIPATION IN THE OIL AND LOGISTICS OPERATION WOULD ADD TO THE MULTIPLIER EFFECTS IN THE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES, CAPACITY BUILDING, TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER, COST-SAVING AND REDUCTION IN CAPITAL FLIGHT.

”IT WILL IN ADDITION MAKE NIGERIA AN OIL AND GAS HUB IN THE WEST AFRICAN SUBREGION.”

 

OLAWOMI ALSO SAID THAT THE EVENT WOULD FURTHER CHOSE THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SHIPPING SECTOR TO THE OIL AMD GAS INDUSTRY AND THE NEED FOR MORE NIGERIANS TO BE AWARE AND TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE LOCAL CONTENT LAW, THE CABOTAGE ACT AMONG OTHERS.

HE (OLAWOMI) FURTHER ADDED THAT MARAN AS THE UMBRELLA BODY OF ALL THE MARITIME JOURNALISTS IN NIGERIA, THE ASSOCIATION HAS EXISTED IN THE PAST 30 YEARS. THUS CARRYING THE NOBLE OBJECTIVE OF AGENDA SETTING FOR CRITICAL STAKEHOLDERS AND FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TOWARDS ENHANCING POLICY FORMATION AND IMPLEMENTATION.‾
