Defilement: Chrisland pupil testifies in court

The pupil of a Chrisland school allegedly defiled by a supervisor in the school,  has recounted her ordeal before a Lagos Special Court for Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence sitting at Ikeja.

The pupil who is now four years, three months old testified before Justice Sybil Nwaka, confirming that the supervisor, Adegboyega Adenekan actually defiled her.

She was led in evidence by the prosecutor, Mr Babatunde Boye in a proceeding that started 3.00 p.m. and lasted 6.26 p.m. yesterday.

Asked why she was in the court room, child X told the trial judge that she is in court to narrate all the bad things that Adenekan did to her.

When asked how many times she was allegedly defiled, she replied that the defendant allegedly defiled her two times, thereby corroborating the claims of her mother.

Under cross examination by counsel to the supervisor, Mr. Olatunde Adejuyigbe, SAN, the survivor answered in affirmative that she told her mummy when the incident happened.

However when told by the defence counsel that she was tutored on all that she said in court, she respondend that nobody told her what to say.

She was two years and 11-months at the time the incidents occurred serially in 2016 at the Victoria Garden City, VGC, branch of Chrisland schools.

Before her testimony, Justice Sybil Nwaka, had ordered that members of the public vacate the public gallery of the courtroom. However, she allowed journalists and lawyers to witness the testimony.

When she was brought into the courtroom, the judge rose from her bench to sit by a desk opposite her.

The matter has been adjourned till May 21 for continuation of trial.
